Aguirre, 78, of Van Wert, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"275\" height=\"355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Armando-Aguirre-obit-photo-2-2020.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-128074\"\/><figcaption><strong>Armando G. Aguirre<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He was born November 21, 1941, in Gonzales, Texas, a son of Refugio and Rosa (Garcia) Aguirre, who both preceded him in death.&nbsp;On January 7, 1961 he married the former Guadalupe Benevidez, who survives in Van Wert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Humrickhouse of Van Wert, Sonya (Rex) Kelly of Convoy, and Christie (Stacy) Bowers of Greenville; two granddaughters, Quincy (Weston) Thompson and Kendal Humrickhouse; three grandsons, Brian Kelly, A.J. Bowers, and Tressel Bowers; three great-grandchildren, Sebastian Parker Thompson, Erin Kelly, and Megan Kelly; three brothers, Jose Gomez, Rafael Aguirre, and Victor Aguilar, all of Gonzales, Texas; and a sister, Placida Guevara of Austin, Texas.&nbsp; He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four brothers, Nemefio Gomez,&nbsp;Julian Aguirre, Refugio Aguirre Jr., and Andrew Aguirre;&nbsp;and a sister, Lilly Aguirre, also preceded him in death.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Aguirre was a hair stylist and salon owner.&nbsp;He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and Sons of the American Legion, both in Van Wert.&nbsp;He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles.&nbsp;Prior to moving to Van Wert, he was a resident of Greenville.&nbsp;He loved to travel the world and was an avid gardener.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stan Szybka officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visitation is from 4-7:30 p.m. Friday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 that evening.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preferred memorials: Parkview North Hospital Cancer Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Condolences may be expressed at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bricknerfuneralhome.com\/\">www.bricknerfuneralhome.com<\/a>&nbsp;or emailed to&nbsp;<a>bricknerfuneralhome@bright.net<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Armando G.
