{"id":129389,"date":"2020-03-17T15:34:38","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T20:34:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=129389"},"modified":"2020-03-17T15:34:44","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T20:34:44","slug":"vwcs-offers-grab-go-meals-to-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2020\/03\/17\/vwcs-offers-grab-go-meals-to-students\/","title":{"rendered":"VWCS offers &#8216;grab &#038; go&#8217; meals to students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Ohio Governor Mike DeWine\u2019s decision to close all Ohio K-12 schools in order to help with the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Van Wert City Schools believes it is our responsibility to continue to provide meals for the students of our district.&nbsp;&nbsp;As a result, the Van Wert City Schools Food Services Department will be providing meals for children following spring break, beginning Monday, March 23, 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Van Wert City Schools Plan is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.old.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/VWCS-logo-200px-8-2017.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-91300\" width=\"165\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/VWCS-logo-200px-8-2017.jpg 200w, https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/VWCS-logo-200px-8-2017-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 165px) 100vw, 165px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Students who qualify for this \u201cGrab and Go\u201d Meal Plan are VWCS district, Vantage Van Wert, or a Synergy Van Wert students that qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch program. Any student not qualifying for the Free and Reduced Program may also receive meals at the normal school lunch price.<\/li><li>Distribution of \u201cGrab and Go\u201d meals will be located at two sites, the S.F. Goedde Gymnasium (pick up on Jefferson Street only at the east gym doors No. 7 and 8). The other location will be in Ohio City at the Village Hall\/Utility Office. Ohio City families must enter at the north door of the council chambers.<\/li><li>The time for the distribution of meals is 10:45 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday through Friday.<\/li><li>In order for students to receive their meal, their student lunch identification number is required (for each \u201cGrab and Go\u201d meal) at the time of pick-up. One day\u2019s worth of meals may be picked up each day.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The \u201cGrab and Go\u201d meals offered will be both a breakfast meal and lunch meal each day.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, VWCS will remain closed through April 3, while school officials continue to work closely with the Van Wert County Health Department during this challenging time for everyone.
