{"id":130030,"date":"2020-04-06T06:46:28","date_gmt":"2020-04-06T11:46:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=130030"},"modified":"2020-04-06T06:46:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-06T11:46:57","slug":"agencies-providing-meals-for-seniors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2020\/04\/06\/agencies-providing-meals-for-seniors\/","title":{"rendered":"Agencies providing meals for Ohio elderly"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COLUMBUS &#8212;&nbsp;The Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) is distributing $8.8 million across the state to meet the growing demand for meal assistance by older Ohioans impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ODA distributed the funds, provided through the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act, to the state\u2019s 12 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to support meals programming for older Ohioans at highest risk for malnutrition and hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis funding will help us reach an even greater number of older Ohioans struggling to meet their daily nutritional needs during this extraordinary time,\u201d said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThanks to these dollars, our AAAs will be able to address waiting lists, expand the number of people receiving home-delivered meals, reach those who previously participated in congregate meals, and provide additional meals per day or per week,\u201d said Ohio Department of Aging Director Ursel J.
