{"id":131761,"date":"2020-06-02T08:11:49","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T13:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=131761"},"modified":"2020-06-03T10:50:10","modified_gmt":"2020-06-03T15:50:10","slug":"charles-gengler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2020\/06\/02\/charles-gengler\/","title":{"rendered":"Charles Gengler"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Charles \u201cChuck\u201d Gengler, 67, of Delphos, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, at his residence.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"275\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Charles-Gengler-obit-photo-6-2020.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-131801\"\/><figcaption>Charles Gengler<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He was born August 21, 1952, at home in Delphos, the son of Nick and Madeline \u201cShorty\u201d (Howlett) Gengler; his father, Nick, passed on June 30, 2002, and his mother survives in Delphos. On July 12, 1974, he married the former Patricia \u201cPatty\u201d Brinkman, and she survives in Delphos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8711\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Other survivors include two sons, Fred (Kristi) Gengler of Ohio City and Mike Gengler of Delphos; one daughter, Heather Gengler of Delphos; three granddaughters, Aliyah Smith, Skyler Elswick, and Aniya Wallace; three sisters, Carol Sue (Glen) Brantley and Kathy Gengler, both of Delphos, and Connie (Dan) Blue of Van Wert.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chuck worked at Teleflex Corporation until its closing and retired from PSI in 2015 after many years of service. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969-1976. Chuck was an avid fan of NASCAR racing and tennis, always rooting for the underdog. He loved fishing, bird watching, and going to the beach.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Delphos Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Steven Haddix officiating. Graveside military honors will be rendered by the Delphos Veterans Council immediately following the service.
