{"id":132280,"date":"2020-06-18T21:05:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-19T02:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=132280"},"modified":"2020-06-18T22:45:02","modified_gmt":"2020-06-19T03:45:02","slug":"local-cinemas-to-re-open-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2020\/06\/18\/local-cinemas-to-re-open-this-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Local cinemas to re-open this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new owners of Van Wert Cinemas are excited to open the theater\u2019s doors to the public again, starting Friday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theater was among businesses ordered to close by the Ohio Health Department on March 16 due to Covid-19 pandemic.&nbsp;To celebrate the re-opening, Van Wert Cinemas is offering $1 tickets for all movies from Friday, June 19 through Tuesday, June 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"204\" height=\"119\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Van-Wert-Cinemas-logo-6-2020.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-132281\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Movie options include&nbsp;<em>Jaws<\/em>&nbsp;(45th anniversary),&nbsp;<em>Back to The Future<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Trolls World Tour<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>ET<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Despicable Me<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Van Wert Cinemas is taking social distancing measures to ensure safety of customers and employees. Online ticket sales are available for a contactless transaction, and masks are requested when 6-foot social distancing is not possible. Patrons can learn more about the safety measures on the Cinemas website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers can also order tickets at the box office.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bonus when ordering online is that customers may choose their seats, while seats are assigned when purchasing tickets at the box office.&nbsp;Van Wert Cinemas\u2019 new ticketing system will automatically block the sale of seats between groups of people to ensure social distancing.&nbsp;Maximum capacity of each theater in this phase of the re-opening process is 50 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several ways to learn showtime schedules for all three locations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Website:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanwertcinemas.com\/\">www.vanwertcinemas.com<\/a><\/li><li>Facebook<\/li><li>Call the recorded info line at&nbsp;419.238.2100<\/li><li>Online movie listing apps<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>New owners Rodney and Donna Saunders recently negotiated the purchase of the only two movie theaters in Van Wert County from Boyd Theatres Inc. The Saunders started their first drive-in with one screen in the field behind their home in 2007.
