The list combines Ohio\u2019s in-demand jobs and newly created critical jobs into one list of prioritized job sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"243\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Mike-DeWine-headshot-3-2019.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-114781\"\/><figcaption>Mike DeWine<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The update aims to prioritize current economic needs with the health and well-being of Ohioans&nbsp;through Ohio\u2019s&nbsp;Top&nbsp;Jobs&nbsp;List. This resource includes both in-demand jobs and critical jobs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOhio\u2019s Top Jobs are critical to the long-term health and well-being of our state, our communities, and our families,\u201d said Gov. DeWine. \u201cThese are also positions that are available now. We\u2019re looking for Ohioans who want to serve their communities as early childhood educators, first responders, and health care providers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Critical jobs ensure that the state\u2019s workforce supports the health and well-being of Ohioans, their families, and their communities. Governor DeWine made developing the workforce in critical job areas a priority because of their impact on the lives of Ohioans at every stage of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOhio is full of opportunity for anyone looking to expand their skills and break into a new career,\u201d said Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who serves as director of the Governor\u2019s Office of Workforce Transformation. \u201cOhio\u2019s Top Jobs&nbsp;List is a resource to help young people and those exploring their career options sort through growing industries that need to fill new, open positions as well as critical occupations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Critical Jobs are identified through the help of experts and stakeholders in eight career clusters. Critical jobs were created in collaboration with the Governor\u2019s Children\u2019s Initiative,&nbsp;RecoveryOhio, and the Governor\u2019s Office of Workforce Transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eight career clusters include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Children &amp; Community Health<\/li><li>Early Childhood Education<\/li><li>First Responders<\/li><li>Lead Abatement<\/li><li>Mental &amp; Behavioral Health<\/li><li>Nursing<\/li><li>Physicians<\/li><li>Wellness Research &amp; Technology<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to creating the Top Jobs List, Governor DeWine announced the new career pathways feature on&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/topjobs.ohio.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TopJobs.Ohio.gov<\/a>. Career pathways illustrate the progress Ohioans can make within the career clusters in which Critical Jobs are organized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whereas the Top Jobs List showcases details on the progress one can have within a position, such as the growth from a starting wage to a median wage; the new career pathways feature provides information on the skills and education needed for Ohioans to advance to the next level of their chosen career pathway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, Lt. Governor Husted announced the launch of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/topjobs.ohio.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TopJobs.Ohio.gov<\/a>, Ohio\u2019s new tool that transitioned the once static In-Demand Jobs List into an interactive tool to help guide the educational choices of students, educators, and workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ohio\u2019s Top Jobs List plays an important function as it directs 85 percent of federal job training funds offered through OhioMeansJobs Centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both the list and the career pathway feature are available at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/topjobs.ohio.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TopJobs.Ohio.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitted information COLUMBUS &#8212; Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced on Monday the launch of Ohio\u2019s Top Jobs List.
