She was born May 7, 1927, in Van Wert County, the daughter of Telford and Edith (McGinnis) Morgan, who both preceded her in death. Marilyn was the beloved wife of Charles “Irvin” Butler. They were married on February 23, 1947, and he preceded her in death on August 24, 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She is survived by their four children, Dan Butler of\u00a0Rockford,\u00a0Jane\u00a0Barber of Van Wert, Joan (Steve) Ditmer\u00a0of Jacksboro,\u00a0Tennessee,\u00a0and Dennis (Rose) Butler of Rockford;\u00a0a brother\u00a0and sister,\u00a0Roger (Lois) Morgan\u00a0of Hartford, Connecticut,\u00a0and\u00a0Janice (Mike)\u00a0Spray\u00a0of Van Wert; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren;\u00a021 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and\u00a0three great-great-grandchildren.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Charlotte Morgan, also preceded her in death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marilyn was a 1945 Ohio City-Liberty High School graduate and went on to\u00a0attend International Business College in Fort\u00a0Wayne, Indiana.\u00a0She had\u00a0been a legal secretary for the former Walters\u00a0& Young\u00a0Law Office\u00a0in Van Wert, and attorney William Meikle\u00a0in Celina.\u00a0Marilyn\u00a0also\u00a0was\u00a0active\u00a0in the farming business with\u00a0her husband, Irvin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A dedicated member of Mendon United Methodist Church, Marilyn had served there as both organist and pianist, and was a member\u00a0of\u00a0the Quilters Group at the church. Also busy within the Mendon community, Marilyn belonged to the\u00a0Mendon Band Boosters, was an advisor for the Mendon Blue Ribbon\u00a04-H Club, and assisted with dinners for the Mendon Lions Club. Marilyn loved to make quilts, cook, and can the vegetables from\u00a0her garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, with Pastor Lance Hostetler officiating. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery in Union Township.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 21, at the funeral home.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Those attending are required to wear masks, and are asked to practice social distancing as much as possible, and follow COVID-19 guidelines established by the Ohio Department of Health and Governor DeWine.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Preferred memorials: Mendon United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
