\u201cFarm Equipment\u201d was the competition theme at the Wassenberg Camera Club’s meeting Thursday, September 8, at the Wassenberg Art Center.<\/p>\n

There was a tie for first place in the print division, but Bill Sorensen wasn’t worried because both of the pictures were his.\u00a0 His B\/W print of a farm wagon taken at the Grassmere farm\u00a0inside the\u00a0Nashville Zoo was picked for first place.\u00a0 The land for the zoo was donated by two spinster sisters and there are tours through the old house and its outbuildings while visiting the\u00a0zoo.<\/p>\n

First place in slides went to Rex Dolby’s sunset picture of a farmer unloading grain in the late evening just west of Van Wert.<\/p>\n

Treasurer Karl Gribler reported the that check from the Fair Board for helping with the fair’s photography exhibit will go for awards at the October Show.<\/p>\n

Photography and art exhibits are juried by an impartial authority, usually from outside the area and\/or someone who is not familiar with the Wassenberg Art Center or photography club. Name tags are reversed so the selection remains anonymous.<\/p>\n

President Jodi Hattery asked that\u00a0eight or more members\u00a0be on hand\u00a0at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

Saturday, September 17,\u00a0 to assist the judges by moving and removing pictures and recording the winners.\u00a0 She also reminded the club that the regular meeting on the 22nd is rescheduled for the 29th to\u00a0clean the pictures.<\/p>\n

Club members welcomed Isiah Ross to the meeting.<\/p>\n

Pictures for the October Photography Exhibit were taken in from 1-5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.\u00a0 By closing time on Sunday, 302 pictures from 45 entrants had been received.\u00a0 Each year one marvels at the quality of work that is submitted for judging and this year is no exception.\u00a0 The\u00a0judges will not have an easy task.\u00a0 The show will be open to the public on Sunday, October 1 with a public reception from 7-9 p.m., and on Sunday, October 2 from 1-5 p.m., and 1-5 p.m. Tuesday thru Sunday thereafter.\u00a0 The Wassenberg Art Center is closed on Mondays.\u00a0 There is no admission charge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
