{"id":137511,"date":"2020-11-24T13:17:26","date_gmt":"2020-11-24T18:17:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=137511"},"modified":"2020-11-24T13:18:08","modified_gmt":"2020-11-24T18:18:08","slug":"paul-perez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2020\/11\/24\/paul-perez\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul Perez"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Paul Perez, 87, died at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"391\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Paul-Perez-obituary-photo-11-2020.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-137512\"\/><figcaption>Paul Perez<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He was&nbsp;born September 25, 1933, in Spencerville, the son of Jesus and Julia (Morales) Perez, who both preceded him in death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8711\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He is survived by his sons, Stephan Perez of Van Wert and Andreas Perez of Harlan, Indiana; three grandchildren, Sarah&nbsp;and Stefanie Perez, both of Roanoke, Indiana, and Alisa Perez of Hartford City, Indiana;&nbsp;three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Conner, and Corbin; three siblings, Pat Robison and Evelyn Perez, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Alice Villagomez of Decatur, Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie L. &#8220;Marliese&#8221; Perez, on November 18, 2020.\u00a0Paul was also preceded in death by seven siblings, Doe, Jessie, Richard, and Joe Perez, Juanita Kamos, Ruby Cuellar, and Connie Granados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul was a proud United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Van Wert Post 178 of the American Legion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was a member of Van Wert St. Mark\u2019s Lutheran Church and the United Auto Workers. Paul had been employed as a machinist and retired from International Harvester in Fort Wayne after 34 years of service.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Combined funeral services for Paul and Marie will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 28, at St. Mark\u2019s Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Rev.
