{"id":139395,"date":"2021-01-22T00:23:56","date_gmt":"2021-01-22T05:23:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=139395"},"modified":"2021-01-22T23:50:35","modified_gmt":"2021-01-23T04:50:35","slug":"local-firms-provide-pizza-for-vw-health-medical-staffers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2021\/01\/22\/local-firms-provide-pizza-for-vw-health-medical-staffers\/","title":{"rendered":"Local firms donate pizza to VW Health staff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>DAVE MOSIER\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The medical staff at Van Wert Health and Van Wert Health North received a tangible &#8212; and edible &#8212; \u201cthank you\u201d on Thursday for all the hard work they have put in caring for local COVID-19 pandemic patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Pizzas-delivered-to-VW-Health-1-21-2021.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-139396\" width=\"360\" height=\"201\"\/><figcaption>Van Wert Health medical staff pose with pizzas donated by Straley Realty and Keister &amp; Baker Law Office, along with representatives from those two local companies. <em>Dave Mosier\/Van Wert independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Local businesses Straley Realty and Keister &amp; Baker Law Office partnered to provide approximately 100 pizzas to the Van Wert Health doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff that have spent nearly a year fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pizzas from the Van Wert Pizza Hut were delivered to the day staff at Van Wert Health and the staff at Van Wert Health North during the lunch hour, while the night shift at Van Wert Health also received pizzas at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Warren Straley of Straley Realty said Bob Miller, a Straley agent in Paulding, came up with the idea to thank healthcare workers at Paulding County Hospital for their work in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe thought it was a good idea and decided to do it here as well,\u201d Staley said, adding that the attorneys at Keister &amp; Baker also liked the idea and partnered with the realty firm to purchase the pizzas. \u201cWe know what it\u2019s like, and it\u2019s tough, and we just wanted to say \u2018thank you\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Ellen Rager, director of marketing, communications, and community relations for Van Wert Health, said the pizza was much appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in the tenth month of dealing with the COVID pandemic, and I love the timing of this,\u201d she noted. \u201cThis is really a great pick-me-up for our staff, let them know how appreciated they are, cause all the extra work it takes to care for patients in a global pandemic is astronomical.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rager added that, while the pandemic has been \u201cawful\u201d there have also been some positives to come out of the long months of hard work caring for COVID patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing surrounded by the community and all the notes we get and all the donations have been heart-warming,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAVE MOSIER\/independent editor The medical staff at Van Wert Health and Van Wert Health North received a tangible &#8212; and edible &#8212; \u201cthank you\u201d on Thursday for all the hard work they have put in caring for local COVID-19 pandemic patients.
