{"id":144831,"date":"2021-08-15T23:43:59","date_gmt":"2021-08-16T04:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=144831"},"modified":"2021-08-15T23:44:02","modified_gmt":"2021-08-16T04:44:02","slug":"vw-outdoorsmen-sets-m-1-garand-match-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2021\/08\/15\/vw-outdoorsmen-sets-m-1-garand-match-2\/","title":{"rendered":"VW Outdoorsmen sets M-1 Garand match"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Independent staff and submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MIDDLE POINT &#8212; The Van Wert County Outdoorsmen Association will be hosting a CMP-sanctioned M-1 Garand match on Saturday, August 21, at the Van Wert County Outdoorsmen Club, 9093 Ringwald Road. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Crossed-M-1-garand-rifles-11-2017.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-95561\" width=\"183\" height=\"208\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The safety briefing will be held at 9:15 a.m., followed by the match at 9:30 that morning. Any military rifle may be used (M-1 Garand, AR-15, and other rifles). Those participating may use iron sights or scoped rifles.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, once people shoot in the match, they are eligible to purchase an M-1 Garand from the CMP. For those who do not have a rifle, the club has M-1 rifles to loan out for use in this match. The club also has a National Match AR-15 for those who might want to try it out.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost to participate in the match is $5, which is a target fee.
