September 30 just wasn\u2019t good enough,\u201d Yost said. \u201cThe federal government should have known Ohio had the law on its side from the beginning and just done what the law required it to do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Federal law mandates that the Census Bureau provide all states with their census data &#8212; information that is critically important as states begin to review their legislative districts &#8212; by no later than March 31 of the year following the census being conducted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Census Bureau announced in February that the data would be delayed until September 30, blaming the COVID-19 pandemic.
