Nearly two-thirds of Crestview school district residents voted in favor of the renewal in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Crestview-Schools-10-2021-e1634964257736.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-147481\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was (originally) voted in at 2.0 mills, but has been decreased over the years and now has an effective millage of 1.13,\u201d Superintendent Kathy Mollenkopf explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRecent purchases include camera systems for route buses, repairs to heating equipment (boilers) and future expenditures are scheduled to include some additional parking at athletic complex, upgrades to bleachers, lighting at athletic complex and building maintenance,\u201d she added. \u201cIt can\u2019t be used for operating expenditures such as salaries, benefits, supplies or utilities,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other previous purchases with permanent improvement money have included buses, band instruments, music room insulation, student computers, a rubber playground and water heaters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on a $100,000 home, the average cost comes in at just under $35 annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFinancially supporting our school system is advantageous to our students, parents, staff and community,\u201d Mollenkopf said. \u201cThe school district serves as an integral part of our community, a centerpiece.
