{"id":148202,"date":"2021-11-12T04:50:54","date_gmt":"2021-11-12T09:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=148202"},"modified":"2021-11-12T04:50:56","modified_gmt":"2021-11-12T09:50:56","slug":"bollenbacher-signs-with-spring-arbor-u","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2021\/11\/12\/bollenbacher-signs-with-spring-arbor-u\/","title":{"rendered":"Bollenbacher signs with Spring Arbor U."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2021 Northwest Conference Volleyball Player of the Year will head north to continue her academic and athletic careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lincolnview outside hitter Kendall Bollenbacher has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Spring Arbor University, an NAIA Division I school in Spring Arbor, Michigan. The Cougars just finished their season 14-18 (7-10 Crossroads League).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A three-sport athlete (volleyball, basketball, softball), Bollenbacher noted she\u2019s had a long association with volleyball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve really loved it since I was little and it\u2019s been a family thing the whole time,\u201d Bollenbacher explained. \u201cI\u2019ve been able to play with my whole family and we all love it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bollenbacher said she learned of Spring Arbor\u2019s interest in her through an email with an invitation to visit the south central Michigan campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"525\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Kendall-Bollenbacher-11-11-2021.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-148203\"\/><figcaption>Family members and coaches watch while Kendall Bollenbacher signs her Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Spring Arbor University. <em>Scott Truxell\/Van Wert independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI went on a visit and on a campus tour and I really loved it so then I got to meet with the team and the coaches and I knew right away that it was going to be the right one,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s beautiful and it\u2019s just so pretty in the fall with the leaves turning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bollenbacher added that she hopes to earn playing time soon and she reflected on her time as a member Lincolnview\u2019s volleyball team, which included two outright and one shared NWC championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been amazing and it\u2019s been so fun, some of the best fun I\u2019ve had in a long time,\u201d Bollenbacher said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lincolnview head coach JaNahn Evans had nothing but praise for Bollenbacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKendall is an exceptional volleyball player and she brought power, fun, humbleness, skill, her IQ, and I could go on and on,\u201d Evans said. \u201cShe was the glue for our team and I\u2019m so excited for this day for her and we get to celebrate that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bollenbacher plans to major in health and exercise science with hopes of a career in physical therapy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCOTT TRUXELL\/independent editor The 2021 Northwest Conference Volleyball Player of the Year will head north to continue her academic and athletic careers.
