{"id":153774,"date":"2022-05-03T03:48:36","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T08:48:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=153774"},"modified":"2022-05-03T03:48:39","modified_gmt":"2022-05-03T08:48:39","slug":"historical-society-looking-to-celebrate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2022\/05\/03\/historical-society-looking-to-celebrate\/","title":{"rendered":"Historical Society looking to celebrate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff and submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAULDING &#8212; John Paulding Historical Society is planning an exhibit in June and July to help commemorate the Paulding County Fair\u2019s 150th anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first fair at the current county fairgrounds was held in 1872, and a big centennial celebration was held in 1972.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum has several artifacts from past Paulding County Fairs, but more items are needed. The historical society is welcoming loaned items for the exhibit, including items related to fair activities, entertainment, advertising, horse racing, 4-H, midway, grounds and barns and livestock shows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Old signs (concessions, barns, buildings, granges, exhibitors, games, etc.)<br>\u2022 Vintage Agricultural Society membership cards<br>\u2022 Tickets<br>\u2022 Fair advertising posters<br>\u2022 4-H banners, signs, projects, photographs<br>\u2022 Original midway games (milk bottle throw, ring toss, balloon burst, knockdown dolls, shooting gallery, ring the bell, nickel pitch, etc.)<br>\u2022 Memorabilia (fans, neckties, glassware, souvenirs, shirts)<br>\u2022 Crowns or sashes from Jr. Fair King &amp; Queen and Miss Paulding County<br>\u2022 Trophies, rosettes and special awards from different eras<br>\u2022 Horse blankets from winning horses<br>\u2022 Photographs, snapshots and candid photos, black &amp; white or color<br>\u2022 Home movies (8mm or 16mm) and videos<br>\u2022 Salvaged items from old buildings, barns and structures, such as gates, signs, ticket booths, fixtures<br>\u2022 Any items from the fair between 1860 and 1872<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum has plenty of fair books so no more are needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone with items of interest to loan, should email Melinda at <a href=\"mailto:jphs45879@yahoo.com\">jphs45879@yahoo.com<\/a>, leave a message at 419.399.3667 or stop in at the museum on Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. All loaned items will be returned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent staff and submitted information PAULDING &#8212; John Paulding Historical Society is planning an exhibit in June and July to help commemorate the Paulding County Fair\u2019s 150th anniversary.
