This fraternal year, the theme for the contest was, \u201cWhat does it mean to love your country.\u201d The students competed in divisions, by age group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The local winners, which were forwarded to the district level for further judging, were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Division I, 5th and 6th grades (pictured left to right, front row):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1st place \u2013 Ila Hughes \u2013 Lincolnview Elementary School<br>2nd place \u2013 Brooke Tigner \u2013 Grover Hill Elementary School<br>3rd place \u2013 Annabel Horstman \u2013 St. Marys Catholic Elementary School<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"408\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Elks-Americanism-winners-6-2022.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-155130\"\/><figcaption>Pictured are the six local Elks Americanism Essay Contest winners. <em>Photo provided<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Division II, 7th and 8th grades (pictured left to right, back row):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1st Place \u2013 Anna Gardner\u2013 Crestview Middle School<br>2nd Place \u2013 Whitney Boroff \u2013 Wayne Trace Middle School<br>3rd Place \u2013 Hayden Perrott\u2013 Crestview Middle School<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brooke Tigner placed second and Ila Hughes placed third in the Northwest District Division I competition.
