MARYS &#8212; Midwest Electric recently donated $14,950 to 13 west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative&#8217;s Community Connection Fund.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the 89 percent of members who round up their electric bill and donate to this fund, Midwest Electric has provided $1,272,194 to 1062 local charitable causes since 1998.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest recipients of grants include:\u2028&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"291\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/D77B313F-046A-4BC6-9BB4-3960E0581582.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-156820\"\/><figcaption>CCF\u2019s Steve Butcher presents a $1,000 check to Kevin Morrison of the YMCA of Van Wert County. <em>Photo<\/em> <em>submitted<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>YMCA of Van Wert County,<\/strong>Van Wert County; $1,000 to purchase a point-of-sale system to better serve patrons at Camp Clay.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Auglaize County Historical Society<\/strong>, Auglaize County; $750 to implement Q.R. code technology to highlight the museums and sites in Auglaize County.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Wapakoneta Fire and E.M.S.<\/strong>, Auglaize County; $1,250 to purchase a motor for their water rescue boat.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Children&#8217;s Hometown Holiday<\/strong>, Auglaize County; $1,000 to provide a special Christmas weekend for children in downtown Wapakoneta.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Mercy Unlimited<\/strong>, Auglaize County; $500 to provide food to at-risk students over the weekends while not in school.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>St. Henry American Legion Post 648<\/strong>, Mercer County; $1,000 to purchase new Honor Guard uniforms for their members.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Bailey Shockman Post 5135<\/strong>, Mercer County; $2,000 to repair the concrete parking lot at the V.F.W. Post.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Mercer County D.A.R.E.<\/strong>, Mercer County; $1,500 to purchase t-shirts and supplies for the D.A.R.E. graduation party for students.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Andrew&#8217;s House of Hope<\/strong>, Allen County; $1,250 to purchase new beds and mattresses for the women&#8217;s recovery home.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Lima Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>, Allen County; $1,200 to support the Children&#8217;s Concert at the Lima Civic Center.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>St. Marys Middle School Student Council<\/strong>, Auglaize County; $1,000 to purchase an outdoor, portable Gaga pit for the students to use.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Miracle Meal Inc.<\/strong>, Auglaize County; $1,000 to purchase items that are needed for their annual meal at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds.<\/li><li><strong>The Delphos Canal Commission<\/strong>, Allen&nbsp; County; $1,500 to purchase a new high efficiency boiler to heat their buildings.&nbsp;<br><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program. Participating members monthly electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar, with the additional pennies deposited in the fund.
