{"id":158078,"date":"2022-09-19T03:37:23","date_gmt":"2022-09-19T08:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=158078"},"modified":"2022-09-20T03:53:23","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T08:53:23","slug":"the-marsh-foundation-celebrates-a-historic-milestone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2022\/09\/19\/the-marsh-foundation-celebrates-a-historic-milestone\/","title":{"rendered":"Marsh Foundation celebrates big milestone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>100 years \u2013 it\u2019s a special milestone and it was celebrated in fine fashion at the Marsh Foundation Friday night and Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebration of a century of service to children began with a private social hour and Alumni dinner Friday evening, which was attended by well over 200 people and was deemed a big success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"284\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Marsh-Alumi-Dinner-9-16-2022-e1663663977111.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-158075\"\/><figcaption>Friday night&#8217;s Alumni dinner at the Marsh Foundation was a big hit. <em>Photo courtesy of Lindsay Bailey<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had a great meal and a lot of fellowship and old stories being told,\u201d Executive Secretary\/Treasurer Jeff Grothouse said. \u201cWe had students come back along with former employees and it was a great night. It couldn\u2019t have been any better and we were able to show off the new building with the new cafeteria and new gymnasium \u2013 people really loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday\u2019s campus-wide celebration was open to the public and a steady stream of people flowed in throughout the day to enjoy various offerings, including school and administration building open houses, tours of the group homes and the Homestead, a farmer\u2019s market and mum sale and inflatables. Other parts of the celebration included food trailers, cooking and horse demonstrations by current Marsh students, open pond fishing, and a book signing and speech by former Marsh Foundation student Tori Hope Peterson, who was named Mrs. Universe in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day\u2019s festivities closed with a high energy concert by Denver and the Mile High Orchestra in the Ron Bagley Auditorium, followed by a fireworks show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c100 years is very special for us,\u201d Grothouse said of the Marsh Foundation\u2019s history and the celebration. \u201cIt\u2019s been a great weekend and the weather couldn\u2019t have been any better for the celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Marsh Foundation, which was founded by George and Hilinda Vance Marsh, is a not-for-profit children\u2019s services agency that provides services for youth and families in a variety of settings. Services include residential care, family foster care (ages 0-17), adoption and independent living services.
