{"id":159792,"date":"2022-11-05T01:12:52","date_gmt":"2022-11-05T06:12:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=159792"},"modified":"2022-11-07T04:54:32","modified_gmt":"2022-11-07T09:54:32","slug":"ppec-seeking-donations-for-non-profit-clothes-for-joes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2022\/11\/05\/ppec-seeking-donations-for-non-profit-clothes-for-joes\/","title":{"rendered":"PPEC seeks donations for Clothes for Joes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAULDING &#8212; During the first few weeks of October, Putnam Paulding Electric Cooperative dispatcher Amy Waters led the co-op&#8217;s yearly service project with several employees to help Clothes for Joes, a non-profit in Fort Wayne that serves veterans in northeast Indiana and northweset Ohio with clothing and hygiene items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PPEC employees performed upgrades to their new building (opened September 10 at 2022 Calhoun St in Fort Wayne), including re-doing their awning on the front by putting up new plywood and finishing it with galvanized metal. Other projects included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"265\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Clothes-for-Joes-storefront-11-4-2022-e1667814834342.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-159791\"\/><figcaption>PPEC employees pose in front of the renovated Clothes for Joes storefront.<em> Photo submitted<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Setting up shelving in the store <\/li><li>Designing and hanging a new banner for the front of their building <\/li><li>Hanging military plaques inside <\/li><li>Donating $400+ in internal employee cash donations <\/li><li>Donating toiletries, clothing, and hygiene items from an internal employee drive <\/li><li>Sorting clothing <\/li><li>Pulling weeds along the sidewalk<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To continue the project, PPEC will be hosting a Veterans Day donation drive at the office at 401 McDonald Pike, Paulding from 12-6 p.m. Friday, November 11. Members and the general community are encouraged to bring the following most-needed items:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hats and size large gloves <\/li><li>Any coats, hoodies, jeans, and sweatpants (gently used acceptable) <\/li><li>Full-size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, liquid body wash, or lotion <\/li><li>Deodorant (solid or gel, both men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s) <\/li><li>New Men&#8217;s boxers or briefs (any size)\/Woman&#8217;s underwear and socks <\/li><li>Toothpaste, denture cream\/Fixodent <\/li><li>Foot powder <\/li><li>Diabetic socks<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>PPEC has a long history of supporting veteran organizations, including Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana, and that is continuing with Amy&#8217;s leadership RELITE service project this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative serves more than 12,900 members in Paulding, Putnam, Defiance, Van Wert, and Allen counties in Ohio, and Adams and Allen counties in Indiana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent staff\/submitted information PAULDING &#8212; During the first few weeks of October, Putnam Paulding Electric Cooperative dispatcher Amy Waters led the co-op&#8217;s yearly service project with several employees to help Clothes for Joes, a non-profit in Fort Wayne that serves veterans in northeast Indiana and northweset Ohio with clothing and hygiene items.
