Van Wert independent sports<\/strong><\/p>\n

FAIRBORN \u2013 The Van Wert High School wrestling team completed in a dual-team tournament at the Baker Middle School in Fairborn this past Saturday and the Cougar grapplers were able to win three of the five duals.\u00a0There were\u00a0no individual placing at the tournament since it was a team formatted event.<\/p>\n

Several of the\u00a0wrestlers had very successful days helping the team along the way. In the first dual contest, Van Wert was defeated by Middletown 56-18, while the Cougars won 44-23 in the next match against Trotwood Madison.<\/p>\n

After a bye round,\u00a0the Cougars were matched against the “B” team made up of extra wrestlers from all the teams and came out with a 47-21 team victory.<\/p>\n

The Cougars had another break, then faced Dayton Wayne\u00a0and lost\u00a0by a score of 51-27.<\/p>\n

The last match of the day\u00a0proved to be the closest, but Van Wert came out on top, winning 42-39 against Troy.<\/p>\n
