Joseph R. Sisco, Commander of the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol presented Guinther with a \u201cSaved by the Belt\u201d certificate signed by Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Andy Wilson and Colonel Charles A. Jones, Patrol superintendent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPaul is a living testimony to the effectiveness of safety belts,\u201d Sisco said. \u201cEveryone needs to buckle up every trip, every time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Paul-Guinther-3-31-2023.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-164671\"\/><figcaption>Paul Guinther was presented with the &#8220;Saved by the Belt&#8221; award this week. <em>Photo submitted<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Data from 2021 shows 576 people in Ohio were killed in traffic crashes where a safety belt was available, but not in use.
