The day consists of a tractor drive-in, a farm equipment showcase, an interactive farm animal petting zoo, and classroom readings and activities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"310\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Lview-Ag-event-kids-on-tractor-4-25-23.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-165518\"\/><figcaption>Lincolnview students view the world from atop a tractor.<em> submitted photos<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis event allows us to teach students more about animals&nbsp;and tractors who may not get to interact with them on a daily basis,\u201d said FFA officer Ethan Scaggs. \u201cThe joy students have seeing the animals and jumping in and out of all the tractors brings a smile to my face when I see them having so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event has grown from fewer than 10 tractors and some livestock to a wide variety of new and vintage equipment, a backhoe, and many animals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wanted to bring in a tractor that shows the progress in agriculture, said senior&nbsp;Luke Heffelfinger. \u201cI brought in a 1969 John Deere 4020, one that my family has had since it was brand new.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201ct&#8217;s also special to me in this case, since there was a picture of my dad driving it in the field in one of his high school yearbooks,\u201d Heffelfinger added. \u201cThis year we had at least four tractors from before 1970; it helps to show how far ag technology has advanced, especially compared to the newer Case IH and John Deeres that were present.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, animals included sheep, goats, ducklings, peacocks, working farm dogs, a donkey, horse, and a calf.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI hope this experience for the children will help motivate them to join FFA when they enter high school,\u201d said Heffelfinger.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"488\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Lview-Ag-event-kids-with-calf-4-25-23.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-165519\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Lview-Ag-event-kids-with-calf-4-25-23.jpg 580w, https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Lview-Ag-event-kids-with-calf-4-25-23-550x463.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><figcaption>Students spend quality time with a calf.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent\/submitted information Lincolnview FFA members recently held their annual \u201cAg in the Classroom\u201d event.
