{"id":165649,"date":"2023-05-01T03:41:22","date_gmt":"2023-05-01T08:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=165649"},"modified":"2023-05-01T03:42:14","modified_gmt":"2023-05-01T08:42:14","slug":"klopfenstein-pushes-ag-recognition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2023\/05\/01\/klopfenstein-pushes-ag-recognition\/","title":{"rendered":"Klopfenstein pushes ag recognition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; State Representatives Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) and Darrell Kick (R-Loudonville) have introduced legislation that would add several federally recognized agricultural days into the Ohio Revised Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"311\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Kick-and-Klopfenstein-4-30-2023.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-165651\"\/><figcaption>Recogintion of Ohio agriculture is the focus of new legislation introduced by State Representatives Darrell Kick and Roy Klopfenstein. <em>Photo submitted<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed agricultural days and weeks of recognition include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFarmers tend to keep to themselves, but now is the time to promote different aspects of the agriculture industry throughout the year so we can inspire the next generation to pursue careers in the field,\u201d Klopfenstein said<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Agriculture Day, March 21 <\/li><li>Farmer\u2019s Day, October 12 <\/li><li>FFA Week, the last full week of February <\/li><li>4-H Week, the first full week of October<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAgriculture is one of the largest industries in Ohio, generating more than $100 billion to our state\u2019s economy,\u201d Kick said. \u201cWith over 75,000 farms, 90 percent of which are family-owned, we need to highlight the important work being done by everyday Ohioans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The legislation awaits committee assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Klopfenstein represents the 82nd House District, serving residents of Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Defiance counties. Kick is serving his fourth term in the Ohio House. He represents the 98th House District, which includes all of Coshocton and Holmes counties and eastern Knox County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Klopfenstein is a life-long farmer and has been farming with his family in Paulding County for more than 43 years.
