{"id":165905,"date":"2023-05-08T03:47:59","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T08:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=165905"},"modified":"2023-05-08T03:48:00","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T08:48:00","slug":"payne-man-injured-in-atv-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2023\/05\/08\/payne-man-injured-in-atv-accident\/","title":{"rendered":"Payne man injured in ATV accident"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on County Road 72 near Township Road 79 in Paulding County\u2019s Blue Creek Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"199\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/OSHP-Logo-e1532741570657.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-105227\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The accident occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. Sunday, when a Yamaha Raptor ATV operated by Matthew Roy Glass, 42, of Payne, was eastbound on County Road 72 when it ran off the right side of the roadway. Glass struck a utility pole support cable and overturned in a ditch. He was life-flighted from the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Glass is currently in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Paulding County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Scott Fire &amp; EMS, Samaritan Lifeflight, Gideon\u2019s Wrecker Service, and Paulding-Putnam Electric Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The crash was the second serious injury accident investigated by the Van Wert patrol post over the weekend (see story below).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent staff\/submitted information The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on County Road 72 near Township Road 79 in Paulding County\u2019s Blue Creek Township.
