The event is going on now through Friday, December 30, with $10 registrations still being accepted.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16815\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16815\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16815 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/YMCA-40-day-triathlon-promo-11-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"261\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16815\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">YMCA members pedal their way through the cycling portion of the 40-day triathlon. (YMCA photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Those registered will have 40 days to complete a triathlon\u2019s 26.2 miles of running, 2.4 miles of swimming and 100 miles of cycling.\u00a0 There will also be substitutes for these events allowed.\u00a0 The running can be substituted with walking, working out on the elliptical machine or attending the Zumba or Cardio Pump fitness classes.\u00a0 The swimming can be substituted with the rowing machines. Cycling class participation can go towards the cycling event.\u00a0 Details on the formulas needed to count towards these events are available on the website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vwymca.org\">www.vwymca.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Those who register online or at the front desk of the Y will receive a fitness log to track progress. Those who log and finish the events within 40 days will receive a t-shirt and placed in a drawing for a $25 gas card.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to provide something fun and different to our members to help keep them on track during the holiday season,\u201d stated Julie Schaufelberger, Y wellness director. \u201cExercising relieves stress, gives you more energy and makes this hectic time of the year more manageable,\u201d Schaufelberger added.<\/p>\n<p>Information about this and other programs available at the Van Wert YMCA can be found by calling 419.238.0443 or visiting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vwymca.org\">www.vwymca.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The YMCA of Van Wert County is partially funded by The Van Wert County Foundation and United Way of Van Wert County.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The YMCA of Van Wert County is offering a 40-day triathlon to its members.
