{"id":168245,"date":"2023-07-24T03:45:20","date_gmt":"2023-07-24T08:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=168245"},"modified":"2023-07-25T03:35:29","modified_gmt":"2023-07-25T08:35:29","slug":"model-railroad-show-to-take-over-county-fairgrounds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2023\/07\/24\/model-railroad-show-to-take-over-county-fairgrounds\/","title":{"rendered":"Model Railroad Show coming to fairgrounds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trains, trains and more trains, plus all sorts of accessories and some forms of memorabilia \u2013 model train enthusiasts of all ages will find that and more at the 2023 Railroad Heritage Weekend Model Railroad Show &amp; Swap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 20th annual event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 29, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds. Just like in previous years, the show will feature operating layouts and nearly 250 vendor tables in four buildings, two of them air conditioned. All told, total exhibit space will be 40,000 square feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Model-RR-show-II-7-19-e1690274096520.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-120628\"\/><figcaption>The Model Railroad Show and Swap will feature layouts of all sizes, along with merchandise from dozens of vendors<em>. File photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe sold the Jr. Fair Building, the air conditioned building, during the first week of May,\u201d show coordinator Chuck White said during a recent interview on WKSD\/WERT\u2019s Commissioner\u2019s Corner\/Mayor&#8217;s Conference show. \u201cThe Commercial Building total sell out was the week of June 14, so six weeks before the show we were totally sold out (of vendor space) and that\u2019s unprecedented. We started a wait list because in the past we\u2019ve had last minute cancelations\u2026we had a vendor one year with 12 tables cancel on us on the Wednesday before the show and because we had a wait list we were able to sell those tables.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vendors will sell and swap anything and everything related to model railroading, including the trains themselves, tracks, layout scenery and much more. Along with those items, some vendors will offer train memorabilia, with at least one vendor selling railroad lanterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll see a little bit of everything and one of the unique things about Van Wert that people tell me is they come and they find things that they don\u2019t see at other train shows,\u201d White said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Admission is $6 for adults, or $8 for a two-day pass. Admission is free for all children 12 and under.
