{"id":169712,"date":"2023-09-01T09:33:45","date_gmt":"2023-09-01T14:33:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=169712"},"modified":"2023-09-01T09:40:16","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T14:40:16","slug":"delphos-st-johns-declines-nwc-invite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2023\/09\/01\/delphos-st-johns-declines-nwc-invite\/","title":{"rendered":"Delphos St. John&#8217;s declines NWC invite"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent sports<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DELPHOS &#8212; After mulling it for several weeks, Delphos St. John\u2019s has declined an invitation to join the Northwest Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"179\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Blue-Jay-copy-e1693579202268.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-169714\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The school\u2019s administration issued a brief statement on the decision late Friday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith much consideration, we have decided to remain within the MAC Conference,\u201d the statement said. \u201cWe look forward to striving toward excellence within one of the best small school conferences in the state of Ohio.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delphos St. John\u2019s is the second Midwest Athletic Conference to decline an invitation to join the NWC. Parkway made the decision earlier this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NWC is looking to replace Ada and Leipsic after the current school year. Both schools are leaving to join the Blanchard Valley Conference. Liberty-Benton and Lima Central Catholic expressed interest in joining the NWC and Fort Loramie voiced interest in becoming a football-only member, but no invitations were extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NWC principals are expected to meet September 13 to discuss possible other options and\/or the future of the conference.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent sports DELPHOS &#8212; After mulling it for several weeks, Delphos St. John\u2019s has declined an invitation to join the Northwest Conference.
