To help ensure a meaningful and accurate public discourse on the two initiatives, the Attorney General directed two teams from his office \u2013 one for each issue \u2013 to conduct legal analyses of both. These are not policy analyses, but legal analyses \u2013 not \u201cwhy,\u201d but \u201cwhat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"249\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Auditor-of-State-Dave-Yost-headshot-1-2018.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-97432\"\/><figcaption>Dave Yost<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOhio voters deserve an impartial resource that offers an objective analysis of the legal implications of both citizen-initiated initiatives,\u201d Yost said. \u201cThe decision regarding which policy path is best for Ohio lies with voters, not with me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both of the issues are considered high-profile and controversial. Issue 1 is a constitutional amendment that deals with reproductive rights and abortion, and Issue 2 is a proposed statute on recreational use of marijuana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe people of Ohio hired me to do a job,\u201d Yost said. \u201cI owe it to them to give them accurate information so they can make informed decisions.
