She is speaking out against Washington gridlock and asks why the incumbent, Bob Latta, isn&#8217;t doing more for the people he represents than he is for millionaires and billionaires.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17341\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17341\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17341 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Zimmann-Angela-12-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17341\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Angela Zimmann<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cCongressman Latta has again and again fought for a special interest political agenda in Washington,\u00a0D.C., at the expense of the families of northwest Ohio,\u201d says Zimmann. \u201cEven now he&#8217;s preparing to go on vacation while his inaction means working families could be losing over a thousand dollars a year.<\/p>\n<p>By electing to not support a tax credit that helps all Americans, Bob Latta has again showed that he is more interested in partisanship than he is representing his district.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Payroll Tax Exemption reduces the amount an employee pays from 6.2 percent of their paycheck to 4.2 percent. This means that a worker earning $60,000 a year brings home around $1,200 more because of the exemption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people of the fifth congressional district want someone who will represent their needs, not the needs of just the wealthiest in this country,\u201d Zimmann added. \u201cWorking people need tax relief too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Zimmann, 38, is an ordained Lutheran minister and full-time faculty member teaching in the General Studies Writing Program at Bowling Green State University. An elected board member and past president of the Lucas County Educational Service Center, Dr. Zimmann currently serves as president of the Northwest Region of the Ohio School Boards Association. Valedictorian of the 1990<\/p>\n<p>Springfield High School graduating class, she received a bachelor\u2019s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Toledo and graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg before earning her doctorate in rhetoric and composition from Bowling Green State University.
