We didn\u2019t have an answer for him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"316\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Connor-Sheets-12-22-2023.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-173994\"\/><figcaption>Crestview&#8217;s Connor Sheets (44) tries to muscle in for two points against the Blue Jays.<em> Bob Barnes\/Van Wert independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s so unique,\u201d said Delphos St. John\u2019s head coach and father Aaron Elwer. \u201cWhen you see something like tonight and all the time and hard work he puts in when nobody\u2019s there\u2026he\u2019s one of those guys that loves to compete. He hates to lose and he\u2019s going to do what he needs to do to win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Knights (6-2) led 11-9 after the first quarter, with Connor Sheets and Tommy Heffner combining for nine points, but things changed in the second period. The Blue Jays (5-1) went 6-of-7 from three point range, including two each by Elwer and Andrew Elwer, and Delphos St. John\u2019s carried a 29-18 lead into halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt times we haven\u2019t shot it that well but we have guys that need to be accounted for and I think that\u2019s what makes us different than in years past,\u201d Elwer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delphos St. John\u2019s switched things up in the second half and went 13-of-22 inside the three point arc. The Blue Jays led 48-32 entering the fourth quarter.
