{"id":176354,"date":"2024-02-28T04:46:47","date_gmt":"2024-02-28T09:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=176354"},"modified":"2024-02-28T04:46:47","modified_gmt":"2024-02-28T09:46:47","slug":"klopfenstein-seeks-to-honor-soldier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2024\/02\/28\/klopfenstein-seeks-to-honor-soldier\/","title":{"rendered":"Klopfenstein seeks to honor soldier"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; State Representative Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) has introduced legislation designating a portion of U.S. 127 as the \u201cStaff Sargent Zachary Wobler Memorial Highway.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wobler, of Ottawa, was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom when he was killed in action on February 6, 2005, at the age of 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDesignating a portion of U.S. Route 127 to Staff Sargent Wobler, near his childhood home, is one way we can ensure his ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation will never be forgotten,\u201d said Klopfenstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wobler was a part of the Army\u2019s 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
