{"id":17678,"date":"2011-12-14T13:46:16","date_gmt":"2011-12-14T18:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=17678"},"modified":"2011-12-14T13:46:16","modified_gmt":"2011-12-14T18:46:16","slug":"wcc-holds-christmas-dinner-get-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/12\/14\/wcc-holds-christmas-dinner-get-together\/","title":{"rendered":"WCC holds Christmas Dinner get-together"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Rex Dolby<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nineteen members and guests attended the Wassenberg Camera Club&#8217;s annual Christmas Dinner and Year-End judging on Thursday evening, December 8 at the Wassenberg Art Center.<\/p>\n<p>After a fine meal, and the tables were cleared, the group selected the best print and slide of the year.\u00a0 The best print was awarded to Will Hawkins for his close-up of a dewy rose.\u00a0 President Jodi Hattery won the best slide with her print of a cardinal perched on a branch while snowflakes fell.<\/p>\n<p>The group next worked on possible competition themes for 2012.\u00a0Those themes are: January \u2013 Celebrations; February \u2013 Food; March &#8212; Doors\/Windows; April \u2013 Macro; May \u2013 Weather; June &#8212; Moon &amp; Stars; July &#8212; Military Equipment\/Patriotic; August &#8212; Outdoor Fun; September \u2013 Hats; October &#8212; Ghosts\/transparency; and November &#8212; Harvest Scenes.<\/p>\n<p>Officers for the new year are: Doug Heckler &#8212; President, Will Hawkins &#8212; Vice President, and Rex Dolby &#8212; Secretary.\u00a0One item of business to be held over for the first meeting of the new year will be the filling of the treasurer&#8217;s position as long-time treasurer, Karl Gribler, has decided not to seek reelection.<\/p>\n<p>The club&#8217;s next meeting will be on Thursday, January 12, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center.<\/p>\n<p>Contact the art center at 419.238.6837 via <a href=\"mailto:wassenbergdirector@embarqmail.com\">wassenbergdirector@embarqmail.com<\/a> or visit our website at: <a href=\"http:\/\/wassenbergartcenter.org\/\"><strong>wassenbergartcenter.org<\/strong><\/a>.
