{"id":17796,"date":"2011-12-17T03:09:05","date_gmt":"2011-12-17T08:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=17796"},"modified":"2011-12-17T03:09:05","modified_gmt":"2011-12-17T08:09:05","slug":"bwc-has-new-workplace-wellness-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/12\/17\/bwc-has-new-workplace-wellness-program\/","title":{"rendered":"BWC has new workplace wellness program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; Ohio Bureau of Workers\u2019 Compensation (BWC) Administrator\/CEO Stephen Buehrer announced the addition of a workplace wellness program to help employers meet the challenges related to rising incidences of obesity and chronic disease.\u00a0 Over the next four years, the program will make $4 million available to employers to create programs to control escalating costs of workers\u2019 compensation claims associated with these health risk factors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealth factors like obesity and chronic disease can contribute to workplace injuries and slow the recovery of an injured worker,\u201d said Buehrer. \u00a0\u201cBy promoting wellness programs in the workplace, we are helping improve the quality of life for working Ohioans and their families, as well as helping reduce costs for Ohio\u2019s employers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Participating employers will be awarded up to $15,000 over four years to implement wellness programs in their workplaces.
