{"id":178581,"date":"2024-04-29T03:39:51","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T08:39:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=178581"},"modified":"2024-04-30T03:51:09","modified_gmt":"2024-04-30T08:51:09","slug":"sheriffs-office-mourns-loss-of-clark-tributes-come-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2024\/04\/29\/sheriffs-office-mourns-loss-of-clark-tributes-come-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheriff&#8217;s Office mourns loss of Clark"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Van Wert County Sheriff\u2019s Office continues to mourn the loss of Chief Deputy Adam Clark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clark, 37, passed away Friday evening and the Sheriff\u2019s Office made the announcement on Facebook early Saturday afternoon, prompting hundreds of responses from the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAdam was a positive influence on everyone he met,\u201d Sheriff Tom Riggenbach wrote in the post. \u201cWe will miss Adam dearly. Please keep Adam\u2019s family and members of the Sheriff\u2019s Office in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn his loss.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"193\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Adam-Clark-4-28-2024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-178583\"\/><figcaption>Adam Clark<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Delphos native graduated from the Apollo Police Academy and spent over 17 years with the Van Wert County Sheriff\u2019s Office, including the last four as Chief Deputy. He earned many accolades along the way, including local, state and national \u201cVFW Officer of the Year.\u201d He was well known and well respected throughout the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA huge loss for the Van Wert community and law enforcement in general,\u201d Michael Ulrich wrote on Facebook. \u201cI always enjoyed seeing him on calls around town.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSuch a great guy who always seemed to take the extra time if there was any more he could do for people no matter who they were or what they needed \u2013 he was there to help,\u201d Chelsea Rue wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAdam was one of my favorites,\u201d Bonnie Wells stated. \u201cWhether I was working in the ER or at the jail he always had a smile on his face and could stay so calm in some very difficult circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAdam was always a bright spot in my day any time I saw him,\u201d Lori Allen wrote. \u201cAlways so caring, always trying to make others laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAdam took his job very seriously and he loved doing it, but you would have never known it with all the laughter that surrounded him,\u201d his father-in-law, Jim Davis, wrote. \u201cI never seen him without a smile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hundreds of other people also had nothing but praise and positive comments honoring Clark, who is survived by his wife Cassondra Clark and three children, Cayson, Brodyn and Loxtyn Clark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Services have been set for Clark. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. today and from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Weber Funeral Home, Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
