SANDRA GROOMS\/<\/strong>for The Van Wert independent<\/em><\/p>\n

The Van Wert High School boys and girls swimming and diving teams hosted Coldwater and Versailles in a double dual meet on Tuesday evening. The Cougar boys\u2019 team defeated Coldwater 77-18, but was in turn defeated by Versailles 53-47. The Cougar girls\u2019 team also defeated Coldwater 63-39, but was defeated by Versailles, 67-34. Versailles defeated both Coldwater teams: boys 66-20 and girls 74-27.<\/p>\n

Individual Van Wert swimmers placing first overall included Taylor Grooms (400-meter freestyle), Trey Stemen (100-meter butterfly), Matt Cucciarre (400-meter freestyle) and Cody Hanes (100-meter individual medley).<\/p>\n

Kase Schalois placed first in 1-meter diving with 179.2 points. The Cougar divers return to action on December 27, when they host the Van Wert Diving Invitational.\u00a0 Swimmers will participate in the Holiday Invitational in Lima on December 29.<\/p>\n
