{"id":179733,"date":"2024-05-24T13:54:02","date_gmt":"2024-05-24T18:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=179733"},"modified":"2024-05-24T13:54:04","modified_gmt":"2024-05-24T18:54:04","slug":"hospital-restarts-volunteer-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2024\/05\/24\/hospital-restarts-volunteer-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospital restarts volunteer program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital is celebrating the return of its volunteer program after it was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volunteers are vital to the hospital by helping with various tasks which could include greeting patients, helping patients and visitors navigate the hospital, wheelchair assistance, and re-stocking supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVolunteering gives people the opportunity to help make a difference in people\u2019s lives and is a great way to give back to our community,\u201d said Emily Lichtenberger from OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital\u2019s volunteer services. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen that it\u2019s especially rewarding for our older volunteers because it provides a purpose, sense of fulfillment, and an opportunity to connect with others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested volunteers will go through training as part of an on-boarding process and can expect a time commitment of serving 2-4 hours a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Van Wert hospital is currently looking to add to its team of volunteers.
