{"id":180151,"date":"2024-06-07T21:12:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-08T02:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=180151"},"modified":"2024-06-10T07:53:57","modified_gmt":"2024-06-10T12:53:57","slug":"active-shooter-training-planned-locally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2024\/06\/07\/active-shooter-training-planned-locally\/","title":{"rendered":"Active shooter training planned locally"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you drive by Van Wert High School\/Middle School on Saturday, June 29, you\u2019ll notice a large law enforcement presence on the grounds, but keep in mind it\u2019s just a drill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Van Wert City Schools, along with the Van Wert Police Department, the Van Wert Fire Department, the Van Wert County Sheriff\u2019s Office and the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will conduct active shooter training at the middle school and high school from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. that day. During that time, no one will be permitted to enter any of the buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Van Wert City Schools Assistant Superintendent Bob Priest, approximately 100 student volunteers will take part in the drill, along with 20 staff volunteers.
