{"id":180861,"date":"2024-06-28T03:41:10","date_gmt":"2024-06-28T08:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=180861"},"modified":"2024-06-28T03:41:10","modified_gmt":"2024-06-28T08:41:10","slug":"paulding-co-trail-plans-get-big-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2024\/06\/28\/paulding-co-trail-plans-get-big-boost\/","title":{"rendered":"Paulding Co. trail plans get big boost"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAULDING &#8212; The Paulding County Trails Committee, in partnership with the Paulding County Commissioners, has announced a significant development in community enhancement \u2013 the allocation of $730,000 for recreational trail development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This transformative project aims to redefine mobility, recreation, wellness, and accessibility for residents across Paulding County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese funds provide funding for projects defined as transportation alternatives, including on and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities,\u201d says Kylie Schnipke, District 1 LPA Coordinator, ODOT. \u201cI\u2019m excited that Paulding County, who has never received these funds before, will be able to benefit from this program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Trails-Logo-copy.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-180863\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Trails-Logo-copy.png 300w, https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Trails-Logo-copy-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Paulding Trail Project will help with important county needs such as safety, health, and economic growth. By building inclusive pathways, the committee is ensuring everyone can reach activity centers and essential services easily, while also encouraging walking and biking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phase 1 of the Paulding Trail Project will connect the Black Swamp Nature Center to Lela McGuire-Jeffery Park on the west side of the Village of Paulding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visionary initiative is more than concrete and asphalt, it is a path to a safer, healthier, and more vibrant way of life, and the benefits extend far beyond physical health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;An enormous amount of research supports the fact that trails are associated with increased physical activity and improved physical and mental health and well-being,\u201d said Anna Gurney, Education Specialist at Paulding Soil and Water Conservation District,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investing in nature trails has a ripple effect, making the whole community better. A report by the National Association of Homebuilders found that having a trail nearby is the second-most cited community amenity by prospective home buyers. Additionally, numerous studies have shown that having trails nearby increases property values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRecreation is vital for communities, bringing fun, money, and energy,\u201d said Erica Noggle, Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce. \u201cThis trail project will benefit our local businesses and give our community a safe place to enjoy nature.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.
