The award honors individuals who exemplify sportsmanship, positive leadership, or good teamwork. Moody, a catcher, recently completed his junior season with the Lancers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023-2024 Student-Athlete of the Year recipients were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"381\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Myles-Moody-7-1-2024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-180968\"\/><figcaption>Myles Moody has been named the High School Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Photo submitted<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>HS Female: Copelin O\u2019Krangley \u2013 Caledonia HS (MI)<\/li><li>College Female: Laila Blair \u2013 University of Houston (TX)<\/li><li>HS Male: Myles Moody \u2013 Lincolnview HS (OH)<\/li><li>College Male: Tyler Eberhart \u2013 Valparaiso University (IN)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/TheLeadershipPlaybook.com\">TheLeadershipPlaybook.com<\/a> helps athletic departments and sports teams build stronger cultures by developing better teammates and more positive leaders. As part of the online curriculum, the program has hundreds of two-minute video lessons to increase a person\u2019s leadership abilities and develop life skills. The program was developed by Jamy Bechler, a former college basketball coach and high school athletic director. Bechler is now a professional speaker, leadership consultant, and host of the \u201cSuccess is a Choice\u201d podcast. He is also the author of seven books, including &#8220;The Bus Trip and The Captain.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to recognize Myles as a good example of what a student-athlete should be,\u201d Bechler said. \u201cGreat teams have great teammates and though no leader is perfect, it\u2019s awesome to be able to recognize student-athletes trying to have a positive influence on their teammates and friends. Deserving student-athletes from across the United States were nominated by their coaches, administrators, teammates, and in some cases, even competitors from other schools.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I think about Myles, I think about his leadership, coachability and the dedication he has,\u201d Lincolnview head baseball coach Eric Fishpaw said. \u201cHe works extremely hard and he always does the right thing. He is a fantastic role model, everything a coach wants in a player, Myles has it.
