The scammers are targeting\u00a0mobile device owners everywhere, not just toll road users<br>\u00a0<br>The Ohio Turnpike does\u00a0not\u00a0request its customers to make payments by text. Collections of unpaid tolls and\/or toll violations do\u00a0not\u00a0occur by text either. The only websites associated with the Ohio Turnpike\u2019s\u00a0E-ZPass\u00a0accounts are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ezpassoh.com\">ezpassoh.com<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ohioturnpike.org\">ohioturnpike.org<\/a>. <br>Turnpike officials are encouraging all customers to stay alert to these text scams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"118\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Turnpike-scam-alert-copy.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-182746\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><br>&nbsp;<br><strong>What Customers Should Do If They Have Been Victimized:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Mobile device owners who receive suspicious tolling text messages should delete them without clicking on the link<\/li><li>Anyone who may have clicked on a fraudulent link and provided any personally identifiable information should immediately contact their bank or credit card provider to secure their information and financial accounts. &nbsp;<\/li><li>Victims of SMS tolling text scams should file a complaint with the FBI\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ohioturnpike.us8.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=9e5d8d0c26436c1e67f1c82a8&amp;id=dd6e19d27f&amp;e=e9f4873617\">Internet Crime Complaint Center<\/a>&nbsp;(IC3) and be sure to include the phone number from where the text originated and the website listed within the text.&nbsp;<\/li><li>&nbsp;Individuals with questions about tolls incurred should check their account using the toll agency\u2019s legitimate website or contact the toll agency\u2019s customer service phone number.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitted information BEREA\u00a0&#8212; The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission is reminding mobile device owners everywhere to be aware of a resurgence in fraudulent texts from scammers requesting payment for unpaid tolls through fake websites.
