{"id":191523,"date":"2025-04-06T20:57:57","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T01:57:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=191523"},"modified":"2025-04-06T20:57:58","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T01:57:58","slug":"house-oks-agriculture-appreciation-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2025\/04\/06\/house-oks-agriculture-appreciation-act\/","title":{"rendered":"House OKs Agriculture Appreciation Act"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COLUMBUS\u2014State Representatives Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) and Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) have announced the Ohio House of Representatives unanimously passed House Bill 65, the Agriculture Appreciation Act.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"210\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Roy-Klopfenstein-1-23-2023.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-162418\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Roy Klopfenstein<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>This legislation, sponsored by Klopfenstein and Peterson, will codify the following important agriculture days in state law:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>FFA Week,\u00a0the last full week of February<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4-H Week,\u00a0the week ending in the second Saturday of March<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Farmers Market Week,\u00a0the first full week of August<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ohio Soil Health Week,\u00a0the second full week of November<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stormwater Awareness Week,\u00a0the first full week of October<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agriculture Day,\u00a0March 21<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Farmer\u2019s Day,\u00a0October 12<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAgriculture is Ohio\u2019s largest industry,\u201d Klopfenstein said. \u201cIt is important for us to not only recognize, but celebrate those of us who enjoy the safest, most affordable, and most abundant food supply in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am excited to honor and recognize Ohio\u2019s Agriculture Industry on these special days and hope Ohioans will appreciate the food fiber and fuel produced by farmers every day,\u201d said Peterson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agriculture is Ohio\u2019s number one industry, having an economic impact of more than $100 billion and employing one out seven Ohioans.
