{"id":192023,"date":"2025-04-18T21:59:23","date_gmt":"2025-04-19T02:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=192023"},"modified":"2025-04-18T21:59:24","modified_gmt":"2025-04-19T02:59:24","slug":"cougars-compete-at-o-g-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2025\/04\/18\/cougars-compete-at-o-g-meet\/","title":{"rendered":"Cougars compete at O-G meet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent sports<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OTTAWA &#8212; Van Wert finished eighth out of eight teams on the boys\u2019 side and ninth out of nine teams on the girls\u2019 side at the Ottawa-Glandorf Gold Medal Meet on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to some injuries, sickness, and a meet in Canton on Saturday for some of our athletes, we ran a modified lineup Thursday night,\u201d Van Wert head coach Nate Hoverman said. \u201cThat put a heavy night on some athletes that weren&#8217;t used to that type of workload and put some inexperienced athletes in situations that were new to them.&nbsp;They responded very well.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had PR&#8217;s (personal records) all over the board and saw some athletes shine that haven&#8217;t been able to yet this year because&nbsp;of cancelled meets and inclement weather,\u201d he added.&nbsp;\u201cWe are very excited&nbsp;for what the rest of the year has to hold for our teams.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ottawa-Glandorf won the boys\u2019 title while Bluffton captured the girls\u2019 title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Cougars, the highest finish was recorded by boys 4&#215;800 team of Evan Keuneke, Andrew Laudick, Owen Scott and Keaten Welch.
