{"id":192281,"date":"2025-04-28T21:52:09","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T02:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=192281"},"modified":"2025-04-28T21:52:30","modified_gmt":"2025-04-29T02:52:30","slug":"former-car-dealerships-sued-by-yost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2025\/04\/28\/former-car-dealerships-sued-by-yost\/","title":{"rendered":"Former car dealerships sued by Yost"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is suing six defunct used-car dealerships that failed to provide vehicle titles to dozens of consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In each of the lawsuits \u2013 filed in the Common Pleas Courts of Butler, Fairfield, Fayette, Licking, Stark and Wood counties \u2013 an auto dealership and its operator are accused of violating Ohio\u2019s Consumer Sales Practices Act and the Certificate of Motor Vehicles Act.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"249\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Auditor-of-State-Dave-Yost-headshot-1-2018.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-97432\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Dave Yost<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cBuying a used car without knowing the dealer\u2019s reputation is a roll of the fuzzy dice,\u201d Yost said. \u201cReading online reviews and checking for a history of complaints could spare you the headache of a bad deal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help consumers with title problems who bought used cars from the defendants, Yost\u2019s Consumer Protection Section has issued payments totaling $312,690 from the Title Defect Recision (TDR) fund. The TDR fund aids consumers who do not receive titles within 40 days of a vehicle purchase, as Ohio law requires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a summary of the six lawsuits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Butler County:&nbsp;Sirius Motors<\/strong><br>Timothy Thacker and his Monroe used-car dealership are named in this lawsuit. Yost\u2019s office has resolved six title-related complaints using $86,319 from the TDR fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fairfield County:&nbsp;Highway 22 Auto Sales<\/strong><br>This lawsuit names Debra Jeffers and her Lancaster dealership. Yost\u2019s office has resolved 10 title-related complaints using $39,121 from the TDR fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fayette County:&nbsp;Robinson Auto<\/strong><br>Shawn Robinson and his Jeffersonville dealership are named in this lawsuit. Yost\u2019s office has resolved 10 title-related complaints using $62,454 from the TDR fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Licking County:&nbsp;Ohio Luxury Imports<\/strong><br>This lawsuit names Renato Jovanovski and his Reynoldsburg dealership. Yost\u2019s office has resolved 15 title-related complaints with $71,858 from the TDR fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stark County:&nbsp;Automax of Canton<\/strong><br>Elias Eberly and his Canton dealership are named in this lawsuit. Yost\u2019s office has resolved five title-related complaints using $46,055 from the TDR fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wood County:&nbsp;Prestige Family Cars<\/strong><br>John Stauffer and his Perrysburg dealership are named in this lawsuit.
