{"id":19407,"date":"2012-01-20T04:53:16","date_gmt":"2012-01-20T09:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=19407"},"modified":"2012-01-20T04:53:16","modified_gmt":"2012-01-20T09:53:16","slug":"knight-scholastic-bowl-team-takes-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/01\/20\/knight-scholastic-bowl-team-takes-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Knight Scholastic Bowl team takes title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SIDNEY &#8212; The Crestview High School Scholastic Bowl team traveled south this past Saturday to compete in the Sidney Social Studies Tournament, which consisted of\u00a0a field of 30 teams.\u00a0 The Crestview A Team defeated St. Marys, Celina, Ben Logan, Tipp City, and then Troy in overtime to be seeded first in the final bracket.\u00a0The local team then defeated Troy and\u00a0Ben\u00a0Logan to advance to the semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>Before going into the semifinals and final match, however,\u00a0three of the team&#8217;s\u00a0top four members\u00a0had to leave for another\u00a0commitment, and junior varsity players took their places, stepped up to the challenge,\u00a0and the team pulled off two more wins against St. Marys and Northmont to take home the championship.<\/p>\n<p>This makes three tournament wins out of four competitions so far this season and brings the teams match record to 23-2.
