{"id":19442,"date":"2012-01-20T06:45:51","date_gmt":"2012-01-20T11:45:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=19442"},"modified":"2012-01-20T06:45:51","modified_gmt":"2012-01-20T11:45:51","slug":"marlin-swimmers-do-well-at-tournament-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/01\/20\/marlin-swimmers-do-well-at-tournament-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Marlin swimmers do well at tournament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ROCKY McVAIGH\/<\/strong><em>for the Van Wert independent<\/em><\/p>\n<p>MARION &#8212; The YMCA Marlins traveled to Marion on January 15\u00a0 to compete in the Northwest Ohio YMCA Pentathlon.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the event, swimmers compete in all five strokes (freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke and individual medley) and their times are combined and ranked by age to determine an overall winner.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Lanna Pollock was very pleased with her team\u2019s performance. Daniel Miller, Andrew Henkaline and Addison Henkaline finished fourth in their respective age group.\u00a0 Risa Pollock finished eighth, Erin Miller 19th and Bethany Fast 14th.<\/p>\n<p>Emma Pollock finished first and established new meet records in the 25 freestyle (15.11) and the 25 butterfly (18.33). Pollock was denied a probable first place overall finish due to a disqualification in the individual medley race on a technicality.\u00a0 Katie McVaigh finished second in the 50 freestyle (31.62) and eclipsed the old record set by teammate Addison Henkaline last year.
