{"id":195165,"date":"2025-07-24T20:53:16","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T01:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=195165"},"modified":"2025-07-24T20:53:41","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T01:53:41","slug":"puco-authorizes-aep-ohio-circuit-upgrades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2025\/07\/24\/puco-authorizes-aep-ohio-circuit-upgrades\/","title":{"rendered":"PUCO authorizes AEP circuit upgrades"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) this week authorized AEP Ohio to implement a distribution automation circuit reconfiguration project throughout its service territory over the next seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commission approved a settlement agreement that requires AEP Ohio to update at least 300 circuits with automation equipment that can\u00a0detect power outages and reroute power\u00a0to minimize the number of people impacted by outages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSmart grid investments will continue to improve the reliability of electric service for AEP Ohio in a cost effective manner,\u201d stated PUCO Chair Jenifer French. \u201cThe PUCO remains committed to ensuring Ohio\u2019s electric utilities provide adequate, safe and reliable service at a fair price.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its order, the Commission cited cost-benefit analysis that found $3.50 in customer benefits for each $1 spent.
