The longstanding initiative focuses on combating food insecurity and enriching the lives of local youth during the summer months, when school is out of session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s program, hosted at Trinity Friends Church, served 4,634 meals to area children and youths, with 157 participants registered.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/YWCA-Summer-Food-Program-2025-e1753753174758.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-195270\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The YWCA&#8217;s Summer Food Program was a big success. It&#8217;s been a staple of the community for 30 years. <em>Photo submitted<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to celebrate thirty years of feeding and empowering local youth,\u201d said Betsy Hamman, Director of Youth Development. \u201cThis milestone is a reflection of our community\u2019s generosity and a shared commitment to youth in Van Wert County.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to daily meals, children engaged in a variety of enriching activities, thanks to the YWCA\u2019s community partners, which included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wassenberg Art Center<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SNAP-Ed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4-H<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Portal 2:20 Teen Center<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brumback Library<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Van Wert Soil &amp; Water Conservation District<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Van Wert High School Robotics Team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Van Wert Cinemas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Camp Clay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Van Wert Elementary School STEM Camp<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Calvary Church IMPACT Group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;These partners provided hands-on educational experiences, creative outlets, and memorable summer adventures that helped broaden horizons and build lasting memories,&#8221; Hamman said. &#8220;The YWCA extends a heartfelt thank you to all staff, volunteers, donors, and program partners who made the summer program possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The YWCA is partially funded by the United Way of Van Wert County and the Van Wert County Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent staff\/submitted information The YWCA of Van Wert County\u2019s 30th annual Summer Food Program has come to a successful conclusion.
