{"id":197210,"date":"2025-09-16T15:21:42","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T20:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=197210"},"modified":"2025-09-16T15:22:30","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T20:22:30","slug":"one-person-killed-in-paulding-co-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2025\/09\/16\/one-person-killed-in-paulding-co-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"One person killed in Paulding Co. crash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAULDING &#8212; The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal traffic accident that occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 123, north of County Road 126 in Paulding County\u2019s Jackson Township.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/fatal-car-crash-artwork-2-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20210\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Chevrolet Camaro, operated by James A. Hasch, 50, of Paulding was traveling southbound on County Road 123 when he attempted to pass a southbound vehicle to the right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While attempting to pass, the Camaro struck a southbound 1998 Mercury Sable operated by Curtis W. Gawronski, 62, of Paulding. After contact, the Chevrolet Camaro continued off the right side of the roadway striking a utility pole and overturning, ejecting Hasch from his vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasch was pronounced dead at the scene and Gawronski was not injured in the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Paulding County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Paulding Fire and EMS, Paulding County Coroner\u2019s Office, Paulding Putnam Electric, and J &amp; R Towing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol serves Van Wert and Paulding counties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent staff\/submitted information PAULDING &#8212; The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal traffic accident that occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 123, north of County Road 126 in Paulding County\u2019s Jackson Township.
