Paul Richard Gilliland, age 81, of Escanaba, Michigan, passed away at home on Friday, November 7, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul was born September 2, 1944 in Van Wert, the son of Dale and Golda (Kanney) Gilliland. He married his wife, Diane Hoehn on July 1, 1989 in Van Wert. <\/p>\n\n\n

Paul was an engineer with Aeroquip in Van Wert for many years and later for Marshall Brass in Marshall, Michigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul was a true hands-on man.\u00a0There wasn’t a skillset he didn’t know, and a willingness to use them to bless others. There was hardly a task he couldn’t tackle, and he took great joy in using his talents to help his family and friends and serve his local church, and take on countless\u00a0projects\u00a0around the home he dearly loved. In 2005, Paul and his wife\u00a0moved to Michigan’s\u00a0beautiful Upper Peninsula, where they settled on a piece of land along the\u00a0Escanaba River they affectionately\u00a0called “Heaven’s Gates.” Surrounded\u00a0by the beauty of nature,\u00a0Paul found peace and purpose in the place he and his wife cherished together.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul is survived by his wife, Diane Hoehn-Gilliland and his former wife, Karen Linser Gilliland, the mother of his daughter, Teri (Rod) Brant of Sylvania, Ohio; two stepdaughters,\u00a0 Nikki (Doug) Edwards of Van Wert,\u00a0 and Heather (Troy) Tribolet of Van Wert;\u00a0 grandchildren, Karli (Dan) Acheson, Cody (Addison) Brant and Quinn Brant, Jayde (Kevin) Yeung, Justus (Aaron) McClellan, Adyson (Reece)\u00a0 Berryman and Taylor Miller; six great=grandchildren; sister Jean Taylor; sister-in-law, Barbara Gilliland, and nieces and nephews.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was preceded in death by his parents and\u00a0his brother James Gilliland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family will hold a private memorial service to honor Paul’s wishes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba, Michigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
