{"id":200512,"date":"2025-12-12T23:55:59","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T04:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=200512"},"modified":"2025-12-13T12:55:00","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T17:55:00","slug":"lincolnview-stuns-lima-central-catholic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2025\/12\/12\/lincolnview-stuns-lima-central-catholic\/","title":{"rendered":"Lincolnview stuns Lima Central Catholic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent sports<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LIMA &#8212; A dominant fourth quarter propelled Lincolnview to a key road win in its Northwest Conference opener on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leading highly regarded Lima Central Catholic 39-38 after three quarters, the Lancers outscored the Thunderbirds by a 22-7 margin in the final period, giving Lincolnview a 61-45 win and the program\u2019s first 4-0 (1-0 NWC) start since the 2020-2021 season.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"413\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Max-Hammons-12-2025-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-200520\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Max Hammons scored 25 points against Lima Central Catholic. <em>Photo courtesy of Hanna Young<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt feels really good to be sitting at 4-0 but most importantly, I\u2019m happy for these kids,\u201d head coach Brett Hammons said. \u201cIt\u2019s always fun walking into a locker room and seeing the smiles and excitement on their faces for what they\u2019re accomplishing right now. We haven\u2019t been 4-0 for five years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just proud of the guys and the effort they played with,\u201d he added. \u201cWe had a game plan coming in and knew we had to execute it to win. I felt that we did that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lancers found themselves down 13-8 after one quarter but bounced back nicely in the second quarter with a 19-10 scoring advantage and a 27-23 halftime lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The foul line was a key factor in the game, as Lincolnview connected on 15-of-19 free throws (79 percent), compared to just 4-of-11 (36 percent) by Lima Central Catholic (3-2, 0-1 NWC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Max Hammons led the Lancers with 25 points, Gavin Evans added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Marshall Hammons finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. As a team, Lincolnview enjoyed a slight advantage on the boards, 28-25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lima Central Catholic\u2019s Jordan Priddy, considered one of best players in the NWC, led all scorers with 28 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPriddy is a heck of a player and we knew he would get his but we had to make it difficult for him and the others,\u201d Hammons said. \u201cWe knew we had to win the rebounding battle which we did and we knew we had to do a good job of taking care of the basketball, which we also did.
